Shira's music video- Am I Beautiful
Bio
Shira calls her sound fairy-folk; infused with her sensational ukulele stylings, her music is reminiscent of powerhouse singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Sara Bareilles and
Brandi Carlile .
Since the release of her song, Am I Beautiful, following her friend's battle with stage 3 breast cancer, Shira has been touring across the US and Europe playing heart stopping music bringing people together in joy and healing.
Shira met producer Paul Carbonara (Blondie) as a performer in New York’s vibrant theatre community. She starred in his Off Broadway musicals Solitary Light and Evening 1910 to much critical acclaim. The New York Times noted Shira's performance for her "winning and beguiling voice" and her "enigmatically expressive smile."
Shira went on to record two EPs produced by Carbonara along with an ace six-piece band, including Grammy-nominated drummer Dan Pugach. The 1st one, Till the Sun Comes and the new EP, Birds of a Feather. Together they created a live folk-acoustic sound so raw you could almost hear the wooden floors creaking under their feet.
Shira is currently recording her new project, The-Heart-To-Heart Songbook, a collaboration with author, poet and spiritual counselor Susan P, Lax. Putting together Lax's years of experience in the field of grief and loss and Shira's healing music they carefully crafted a concert and songbook of soul nourishing original songs where grief, joy, and resilience intertwine.
Shira serves as the Artist-In-Residence at Bn'ai Jeshurun Synagogue in NYC utilizing the power of music as a means community building and spiritual growth.
In Music Therapy, Shira worked at The Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in NYC collaborating with the medical team using music in palliative care.
Her single Wait for me, was featured on ABC news.
Shira performed at MUSEXPO Creative Summit Showcase in Los Angeles. Past performers include Katy Perry, Jessie J and the Temper Trap.
